Green Building and Energy Efficiency Practices

With an eye toward the future, we have added energy efficiency and green technology to our list of pursuits. We work in association with knowledgeable and experienced electrical contractors to bring you quality installation of solar products.

We are committed to smart energy conservation and consumption planning and stay current on the latest green technology and products available. With that as the driving force, we have pledged to bring innovation and positive changes to the daily lives of the clients we serve.

At Stately Construction, Inc. we faithfully monitor industry trends as well as the continual updates to various codes and standards. Construction of buildings using “green” practices and materials now takes many forms, from the foundation to the roof, and from windows to appliances. At Stately Construction, Inc., building “green” means building structures using BamCore, an environmentally-friendly, structurally superior and cost-efficient material made from timber bamboo.

BamCore is a product of nature’s strongest structural and fastest growing structural fiber—timber bamboo. It delivers a customized, code compliant wall system that is redefining the low-rise built environment. The patented Prime Wall system is stronger, greener, thermally superior, healthier, safer, quieter and more quickly installed than a conventional framed wall.

Mechanical Properties of Bamboo and Timber Bamboo

Bamboo is used extensively for building throughout the world. Bamboo and laminated bamboo have remarkably strong mechanical properties. Whole bamboo has often been called “vegetative steel” and in some mechanical characteristics, like its surface tensile strength, in internodal sections is stronger than steel (582 MPa v. ~350 MPa). (Shao et al., 2010) When compared on an equal density basis, timber bamboo has been shown to be comparable to steel in strength tests and stronger than wood or concrete, depending on specific species and test protocols. Relative to stiffness, whole bamboo can test stronger than concrete, steel or wood, again depending on specific species and test protocols. (Janssen, 2000).

Stronger

BamCore Prime Wall is stronger in compressive strength compared to 2×6 & 2×8 conventional framed wall. The core of BamCore is timber bamboo, which is known in other countries as “vegetal steel.” Bamboo has been compared to cured concrete in compression and has tensile strength comparable to steel.

Greener

BamCore has a uniquely promising carbon footprint that combines superior thermal operating performance year after year but also drives permanent carbon sequestration with timber bamboo and reduces carbon foot print of an average house by 125 metric tons over life while driving carbon sequestration in new bamboo plantations

Quieter

And the Prime Wall is also quieter. With a Sound Transmission Class rating of 52, our untreated wall reduces acoustic noise from outside to a level that just can’t be reached with a conventionally framed wall without expensive and difficult-to-install acoustic treatments.

Thermal

BamCore’s 2×6 equivalent Prime Wall exceeds the projected 2020 California Building Code thermal requirements without the use of any expensive continuous insulation on the exterior of the building.
The panelized Prime Wall system eliminates about 90% of wood studs, headers and posts to reduce thermal bridging and air leakage, which saves operating dollars year after year.

Healthier

BamCore’s bamboo-based hollow Prime Wall System delivers a water vapor transmission rate that matches the range of rates found in commonly used house wraps. Recent independent tests documented that the bamboo-based panel component of BamCore’s Prime Wall System offers a Water Vapor Transmission or permanence rate that is eight times greater than conventional wood products like OSB and plywood.

Safer

BamCore Prime Wall achieved a flame spread rating of 40 which is 2-4x better than other framing materials.
Fire safety in the residential buildings codes focuses on two product characteristics:
1. How fast do flames spread along a product (Flame Spread)
2. How long does a building remain safely standing during a prolonged fire (Fire Resistance)
